“Extending State Compensation with Private Insurance” Jonathan Flaws
Recently published in “Torrens in the Twenty-first Century”, this paper examines the State ‘guarantee’ of title and the State funded compensation model. It looks at the history of private title insurance in America and it’s emergence in Canada. It also analyses the benefits and safety that private title insurance can add to the New Zealand’s property market.
“Torrens in the Twenty-first Century” the published collection of the papers presented at the international Land Law conference held in Auckland in March 2003 and edited by David Grinlinton.
The conference focus was “Taking Torrens into the 21st Century” and was in collaboration with distinguished members of the Australian and New Zealand judiciary, the Registrar General of Land and many leading academics and practitioners.
